Terrell Golden becomes the first Northwest HS graduate to play in an official professional football regular season game.
Golden plays for the Tri-Cities Fever- an expansion team for Arena 2 (or AF2); the Arena Football League's minor league.
Golden joins the Fever after a two-year coaching stint for the Jags in 2006-07. Prior to his coaching stint, Golden was a three-year starter for the Virginia Military Institute's Cadets football team. Golden plays center/fullback on offense and defensive tackle on defense.
Pro Notes:
  • Preston Williams (NWHS c/o 2003) plays semi-pro football for the Georgia Mustangs of the NAFL.
  • Raymond Custis (NWHS c/o 2000) tried out for the Washington Redskins in 2005 but did not make the team. He later worked out with the Buffalo Bills, but it did not work out with them either.
  • In the Spring of 2007, Adjete Wilson ('03) participated in the NFL Pro Day at Towson University but a sub-par performance eventually lead him to decide that a professional football career was not for him.
  • Although not the gridiron, NWHS football has produced another professional athlete in Calvin 'CJ' Jenkins (02). Jenkins has played professional basketball for an ABA team in Florida as well as a brief stint with CSU Brasov in Romania. He plans on playing for the Philippine's PBA- Asia's first and oldest professional basketball league.
